The New York Jets acquire Dontayvion Wicks from the Green Bay Packers in this trade deal.

An NFL trade idea sending Dontayvion Wicks from the Green Bay Packers to the New York Jets has been created.

Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports proposed the following trade idea between the Packers and Jets:

Jets get: Dontayvion Wicks

Packers get: 2026 fourth-round pick (103rd)

Wicks appeared in 14 games for the Packers last season. He finished with 30 receptions for 332 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns.

The Jets need more playmakers on offense besides Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall, which is why Vacchiano thinks New York should trade for Wicks.

"The Jets have a black hole at receiver opposite Garrett Wilson, but they also have time to fill it since their franchise quarterback won’t arrive until the 2027 draft," Vacchiano wrote. "In Wicks, they’d get a 25-year-old with plenty of promise and limited production (108,1,328-11 in three seasons in Green Bay). He’s buried on the Packers’ depth chart and unlikely to be re-signed after 2026, so a Day 3 pick might be enough. Wicks would give New York a competent second receiver for this season and could be a contributor beyond that."

Wicks has been in the NFL since 2023. He has 108 career receptions for 1,328 receiving yards and 11 receiving touchdowns.

If the Jets trade for Wicks, the Virginia would go from Jordan Love to Geno Smith. Love is a better player than Smith, but Wicks' usage rate would increase in New York.

Smith led the league in interceptions last season with 17 and went just 2-13. The Las Vegas Raiders parted ways with him after just one season.

In his first stint with the Jets, Smith went 12-18 as a starter. He threw for 5,962 yards, 28 touchdowns and 36 interceptions. It wasn't pretty.

However, Smith is older and wiser now and believes he's going to prove his critics in New York wrong.

"I just felt like I was back where I belonged, man. It felt special," Smith said. "When I was drafted there, my goal was to play my entire career for the Jets and one day retire as a Jet. And although it didn't go exactly as planned, somehow, some way we got back here and I'm eager to make things right if I can."

Smith enters next season with 22,168 passing yards, 124 passing touchdowns and 89 career interceptions in the NFL. His starting record is 42-56-0.
