A blockbuster NFL trade proposal between the New York Jets and Arizona Cardinals has been created.
Bill Barnwell of ESPN created the following trade proposal between the Jets and Cardinals:
Jets get: QB Kyler Murray, 2026 sixth-round pick
Cardinals get: 2026 fourth-round pick
The Jets need a QB and the Cardinals are expected to trade Murray this offseason. Many people around the NFL believe New York should trade for Murray, the two-time Pro Bowler who was the first overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
"Swapping a Day 3 selection for a quarterback who ranked 14th in Total QBR over the past two years won't hurt an organization that has a ton of draft capital after the Quinnen Williams and Sauce Gardner trades," Barnwell wrote. "Jets fans would love to add their quarterback of the future after seeing Sam Darnold thrive in Seattle, but they also haven't had even league-average QB play in a season since Josh McCown put together a solid year for the Jets in 2017. With nearly $79 million in cap space, the Jets also have plenty of money to spend.
Murray has 20,460 passing yards, 121 passing touchdowns, 3,193 rushing yards and 32 rushing touchdowns in the NFL. He turns 29 in August.
Murray played in five games in 2025. He had 962 passing yards and six passing touchdowns.
The Jets have the second overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. They were projected to select Dante Moore, but the youngster is going back to Oregon.
New York started three QBs in 2025: Justin Fields, Tyrod Taylor and Brady Cook. The three QBs combined for 2,777 passing yards and 14 touchdown passes.
The Jets' offense was a walking disaster in 2025. They were 29th in the NFL in points per game and 32nd in passing yards.
New York's new OC is Frank Reich. Tanner Engstrand was fired after one season. The Jets went 3-14 in 2025 in Year 1 of the Aaron Glenn era.
All signs point toward the Cardinals trading Murray. It will be fascinating to see if the Jets pursue a trade for the Texas native.
