The New York Jets are pursuing this one particular wide receiver to put alongside of Garrett Wilson.
The New York Jets have needs all over the place, so luckily, they own four picks over the first two rounds of the NFL Draft later this month.
The Jets are expected to take an edge rusher — either Arvell Reese or David Bailey — at No. 2, and there has been some chatter that they could potentially select quarterback Ty Simpson early on, as well.
But could New York also nab a wide receiver with one of its many high draft choices?
Considering that the Jets' receiving corps beyond Garrett Wilson is barren, it would make sense for New York to bag a playmaker, and ESPN's Jordan Reid has reported that Gang Green is pursuing one receiver in particular.
"The Jets are expected to be aggressive in boosting their wide receiver room, and Omar Cooper Jr. (Indiana) is one player they are reported to be extremely high on. They view him as an ideal complementary WR2 to Garrett Wilson," Reid wrote.
Reid added that he wouldn't be surprised if New York acquires a third first-round draft pick, which is certainly possible considering the Jets possess picks 33 and 44 in the second round, not to mention a host of future draft capital, as well.

The 22-year-old's stock has been rising at recent weeks. Cooper had generally been viewed as a Day 2 pick, but some are now wondering if he could potentially sneak into the back of the first round.
Cooper arrived at Indiana in 2022, but didn't begin to receive significant playing time until 2024 when he caught 28 passes for 594 yards and seven scores, averaging a hefty 21.2 yards per catch.
The six-foot, 200-pound weapon ran a 4.42-second 40-yard dash at the Scouting Combine and is a solid, well-rounded player, although he may not exactly have the highest ceiling.
There will be plenty of intriguing receivers to choose from in this draft, so the fact that the Jets seem so enamored with Cooper is interesting, especially considering their need for an X-receiver. It's why Denzel Boston and Chris Bell would be great fits.
Nevertheless, it seems as if New York has zeroed in on Cooper and could be snatching him in a couple of weeks.
