The New York Jets are sending their All-Pro defensive tackle Quinnen Williams to the Dallas Cowboys.

The New York Jets are continuing their fire sale as they are sending All-Pro defensive tackle Quinnen Williams to the Dallas Cowboys for defensive tackle Mazi Smith, a 2027 first-round pick, and a 2026 second-round pick.

The Jets will get the higher of the Cowboys or Green Bay Packers first in 2027.

Williams is one of the best defensive tackles in the league and adds to the Dallas Cowboys' pass rush after trading away Micah Parsons before the season.

Williams' pass rush and run-stuffing ability will look to improve a Cowboys defense that has struggled.

In eight games this season, Williams has 32 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, a sack, and three quarterback hits. The 28-year-old pass rusher has made it to three straight Pro Bowls, with his best season coming in 2022, when he had 55 total tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, and 28 quarterback hits.

This trade comes after making a blockbuster earlier in the day, sending All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts for Adonai Mitchell and two first-round picks.

In this deal, the Jets add a 24-year-old defensive tackle in Smith, who was a first-round pick in 2023. In the 2025 season, Smith has posted just three total tackles and has yet to register a sack or tackle for loss.

Smith hasn't produced much in his NFL career, but he will have a new situation and more opportunities in New York.

The Jets, off to a 1-7 start, were expected to be sellers, but both of these deals come as a surprise. Williams has two years left on the four-year $96 million extension he inked with New York in 2023.

New York's in full rebuild mode, as they now own five first-round picks over the next two years.  They also added a second-rounder in this trade, as they continue to load up on draft capital.

The Jets are completely resetting what the previous regime built in their first year with general manager Darren Mougey and head coach Aaron Glenn.

New York has sent their two defensive superstars, Gardner and Williams, away, but they received a haul. The Jets will now enter a new era and could even make another move ahead of the trade deadline.
