That's a lot of money for a running back.

According to Joe Caporoso, the New York Jets offered RB Breece Hall a three-year deal worth around $42-45 million.

The Jets placed the franchise tag on Hall. Hall's tag is the nonexclusive version ($14.293 million), meaning he can negotiate with other teams and sign an offer sheet. The Jets have the right of first refusal and would receive two first-round draft picks as compensation if they decline to match, a prohibitive price for a running back.

Hall finished the 2025 season with 1,065 rushing yards, four rushing touchdowns, 36 receptions, 350 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown.

Hall has 18 rushing touchdowns and nine receiving touchdowns with the Jets, who hired Frank Reich to be their offensive coordinator. Reich replaces Tanner Engstrand.

The Jets' offense was a walking disaster in 2025. They were 29th in the NFL in points per game and 32nd in passing yards.

Under first-year head coach Aaron Glenn, the Jets became the first team in NFL history to not record a defensive interception and lose five straight games by 23 or more points within a single season.

Hall and the Jets have until July 15 to negotiate a long-term contract. Let's see if one gets done.

New York acquired Geno Smith from the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason. Smith will be the Jets' starting QB next season.

Smith enters next season with 22,168 passing yards, 124 passing touchdowns and 89 career interceptions in the NFL. His starting record is 42-56-0.

In the 2026 NFL Draft, the Jets did pretty well. They took David Bailey, Sadiq, Omar Cooper Jr., D'Angelo Ponds, Darrell Jackson Jr., Cade Klubnik, Anez Cooper and VJ Payne.
