The New Yok Jets have made another trade in the NFL Draft.

On Thursday night, the New York Jets acquired an extra first-round pick to select Indiana wide receiver Omar Cooper at No. 30. One day later, the Jets have swung yet another NFL Draft deal.

Adam Schefter of ESPN has reported that New York has swung a trade with the Detroit Lions, sending the 44th overall selection to the Lions in exchange for picks 50 and 128.

The Jets entered the draft with a pair of first-round selections and two second-rounders, but surrendered one of their Round 2 draft choices (No. 33) in their trade on Thursday evening.

New York nabbed edge rusher David Bailey and tight end Kenyon Sadiq with its top two picks at Nos. 2 and 16 before trading back into the first round to take Cooper.

The Jets still have glaring needs up and down their roster. They could certainly us some more help defensively, especially on the interior and in their secondary after trading defensive tackle Quinnen Williams and cornerback Sauce Gardner during the regular season.

New York could also afford to address the interior of its offensive line, and adding another edge rusher and a receiver wouldn't hurt, either.

Essentially, the Jets need help everywhere, and we might even see them snatch a quarterback at some point in this draft, although it's a thin class for signal-callers.

New York went just 3-14 in Aaron Glenn's debut campaign in 2025. Some wondered if Glenn could potentially lose his job after such a miserable Year 1 showing, but the Jets decided to give him another shot.

Considering Gang Green laid claim to arguably the league's worst year this past season, a mulligan for Glenn was only fair.

The Jets are now absolutely loaded with draft capital through next year thanks to their trade deadline moves. Of course, they need to actually hit on those picks to make it all worthwhile.

They certainly did a fine job on Day 1 by netting Bailey and Sadiq, although the Cooper pick could be viewed as questionable considering Denzel Boston — who would later go to the Cleveland Browns at No. 39 — was still on the board.
