The New York Jets are interested in adding a Pro Bowler.

According to Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic, the New York Jets will pursue a Pro Bowl QB this offseason.

Rosenblatt reports that the Jets "will absolutely explore the idea of adding Kyler Murray as their quarterback."

Murray is a free agent after getting released by the Arizona Cardinals.

"The Jets will absolutely explore the idea of adding Murray as their quarterback — and I can tell you with certainty that they were already having discussions about it in Indianapolis last week," Rosenblatt wrote. "There are obviously a lot of knocks against him — size, durability, reputation — and he’s not the kind of quarterback offensive coordinator Frank Reich usually prefers.

"Coach Aaron Glenn has a relationship with Murray’s father — they both played at Texas A&M, though not at the same time — and has typically preferred quarterbacks with mobility. The Jets’ supporting cast on offense isn’t bad either: a solid offensive line, a No. 1 wide receiver (Garrett Wilson) and a talented running back (Breece Hall)."

Murray has two years left on his massive five-year, $230 million contract. The two-time Pro Bowler played in five games in 2025. He had 962 passing yards and six passing touchdowns before suffering an ankle injury.

The first overall pick in the 2019 draft, Murray has 20,460 passing yards, 121 passing touchdowns, 3,193 rushing yards and 32 rushing touchdowns in the NFL. He turns 29 in August.

Murray tore his ACL in 2022. He's only appeared in one playoff game.

The Jets started three QBs in 2025: Justin Fields, Tyrod Taylor and Brady Cook. The three QBs combined for 2,777 passing yards and 14 touchdown passes.

New York hasn't decided whether it will keep or cut Fields, who is owed $10 million guaranteed by the Jets next season. The salary-cap savings for cutting him would be only $1 million against a $22 million dead-cap charge.

The Jets' offense was a walking disaster in 2025. They were 29th in the NFL in points per game and 32nd in passing yards.

New York's new OC is Frank Reich. Tanner Engstrand was fired after one season.

The Jets went 3-14 in 2025. Aaron Glenn wasn't fired as head coach despite winning only three games. Gang Green has the second overall pick in the 2026 draft.
