    This isn't surprising at all.

The New York Jets are making a QB change.

According to Rich Cimini of ESPN, the Jets are benching Justin Fields and moving forward with Tyrod Taylor as the starter.

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn benched Fields after halftime in Week 7 against the Carolina Panthers. Tyrod Taylor took over and wasn't great either, throwing two interceptions.

Fields has thrown for 845 yards and four touchdowns this season. He's also rushed for 257 yards and three touchdowns. The Jets signed the former Chicago Bears star to a two-year, $40 million contract in the offseason.

Meanwhile, Taylor has thrown for 379 yards and three touchdowns in 2025. He also has three interceptions.

It would have shocked many people in the NFL if Taylor didn't start the rest of the season. After all, going back to Fields would show a sign of weakness by Glenn.

Players in the locker room probably would have lost respect for Glenn if he had benched and then gone right back to Fields.

Looking at New York's schedule, there's a strong chance Glenn goes 0-17 this season. If that happens, Glenn could get fired after just one season with the Jets, something NBA legend Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors hopes doesn't happen.

"It's the Jets man," Green said. "Like you don't go to New York City and go to the Jets. You just don't do it. And so I worry about Aaron Glenn because as a black coordinator, you're not getting many head coaching opportunities. So you kind of gotta take the one that you get.

"And he took the job that was made open to him. But unfortunately, it's just not a great job and it's a very unstable franchise. And they will do some unstable (expletive) like let him go in the middle of his first year as if it's all his fault. And I just don't think it is, but it's the Jets. What more do you expect?

"You're always going to be second fiddle in New York. And then you couple that with being just one of the (expletive) organizations. Move the team. The turf sucks. The stadium sucks. Just move the team."

All signs point toward the Jets trading or cutting Fields this offseason. He may never be a starter in the NFL again.
