With the quarterback market looking rather bleak in free agency, could the Jets take a swing on this former star?

For the New York Jets this offseason, the world is their oyster. They have 11 total picks available in this year's draft and are projected to have the fourth most cap space in the entire league to spend in free agency.

One of the main positions the Jets must address this offseason is quarterback. While it doesn't necessarily need to be their future franchise quarterback, after releasing Justin Fields, they will need a replacement.

New York could choose to pick a quarterback in the draft, as many predict that they could take Alabama's Ty Simpson.

In what could arguably be considered a weak quarterback class, I think it would make more sense to use the draft picks elsewhere and look to free agency.

The free agent market isn't booming by any means, but they could at least find a bridge quarterback to come in on a cheap contract rather than putting all their chips into a young prospect expected to start day one and lead an incomplete team.

The Jets have been linked to names like Kyler Murray, Carson Wentz, or even Geno Smith returning, but I don't think it would be the worst idea to take a flyer on another former top pick.

Should the Jets Target Trey Lance?

With almost nothing to lose this early in the Jets' rebuilding stage, why not take a chance on a former top-three pick in Trey Lance?

Lance didn't find his footing as early as San Francisco would've hoped, and that caused him to eventually lose his job to Brock Purdy.

He was then traded to the Dallas Cowboys before landing with his current team, the Los Angeles Chargers. Over that time, he had the chance to sit behind some stellar quarterbacks in Dak Prescott and Justin Herbert, as well as learn from Jim Harbaugh.

In a few preseason games last year, Lance looked the part, as he appeared to be almost too good for preseason.

We've seen guys recently like Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, and Daniel Jones revive their careers after poor starts. After all his time learning from Prescott, Herbert, and Harbaugh, could Lance be ready to be the next quarterback to revive their career?
