Stunning New York Jets, Justin Fields News Pops Up cover image

No one saw this coming.

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, New York Jets QB Justin Fields was asked to participate in the 2026 Pro Bowl Games.

However, Fields declined.

This is stunning. Nothing against Fields, but he's one of the worst QBs in the league. Perhaps the NFL just wanted his electric running skills on display.

An Ohio State product, Fields put up 1,259 passing yards, seven passing touchdowns, one interception, 383 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns this season. He was benched for Tyrod Taylor.

Fields has played for the Chicago Bears, Pittsburgh Steelers and Jets. He has 9,039 passing yards, 52 passing touchdowns, 32 interceptions, 2,892 rushing yards and 23 rushing touchdowns in the NFL.

The 26-year-old Fields was the 11th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft by the Bears. He is only 16-37-0 as a starter in the NFL, but Fields still sees himself as a starter.

"Of course. Yes, sir," Fields said. "I mean, I just know who I am as a person, as a football player, as a hard worker. I think I know I have the mindset and the skill to attain that. I just feel like I need to do it on a more consistent basis, but that's just what it is.

"It's the ups and downs of life and I'm in a -- quote-unquote -- valley right now. But it's not going to do anything but make me stronger on the back end of it."

Fields is owed $10 million guaranteed by the Jets next season and the salary-cap savings for cutting him would be only $1 million against a $22 million dead-cap charge.

New York has the second overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. The franchise is expected to cut Fields and draft a QB.

Where will Fields play next season? It's unknown as of his writing. He'll probably get picked up to be a second or third-string QB. His days of being a starter are over.
