Aaron Rodgers obviously wasn’t happy with how things went during is time in New York.
He’s hinted at that many times and just took another shot at the New York Jets.
In a recent press conference, Rodgers said what might be the most direct shot at the Jets yet, all while loving up on his current environment with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
When asked about what’s been different this season, the veteran quarterback had plenty to say.
“One of the things I love, and this is kinda the antithesis of where I was, there’s not really any leaks in the boat,” Rodgers said, per the NY Post. “Every year you have difficulties and adversity, both on the field and off the field and to go through a season like this and be able to focus on football and not have a lot of other little bulls–t out there has been really nice.”
In New York, Rodgers' time was defined by media comments, speculation and constant off-field chatter that many Jets fans grew frustrated with.
From the moment Rodgers arrived in New York, the Jets became one of the faces of the league, and the media ran with that.
Anonymous sources were often dropping takes after every practice, and some thought it was him leaking things to the media.
Rodgers’ “no leaks” comment shows a few problems, but again, it isn’t crazy to say that he was the issue in a lot of this.
Jets football in 2023 and 2024 felt like a team that could’ve been better but never was, and it’s possible that some of the reported locker room tension caused that.
In the same breath, it’s a constant that the Jets have dealt with for a long time now. Many former players continue to come out and talk about them, and in a sense, it isn’t unfair. The Jets have been the worst team in football for quite some time now and it’s caused frustration.
In Rodgers case, it seems like he just wants to play football and not deal with all of the other stuff. That doesn’t always seem to be the case, but his comments make it seem otherwise.
