After moving on from Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams, it's evident that the Jets plan to undertake a complete teardown of the roster moving forward and will attempt to rebuild it through the draft and other avenues.
It remains uncertain what the Jets plan to do in this upcoming draft, but it seems evident that a quarterback will be selected.
However, the lack of moves involving other players on the roster was more confusing than anything else. The biggest one was the decision not to move on from Breece Hall.
Hall has been decent throughout his career, and at times, even looks like a star. However, the Jets decided to keep him, despite the upcoming contract situation that they'll have to figure out with the young running back.
Head coach Aaron Glenn loves Hall as a player, and he wasn't a guy he wanted to get rid of.
“Breece was not a guy I wanted to get rid of,” Glenn said to reporters. “He’s a damn good player. Any of those reports that came out, I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
With some of the now-deleted social media posts that Hall made on Tuesday, it seems clear that he wanted to be dealt.
However, when speaking to reporters about the Jets and not moving on from him, he didn't make it seem like that was the case.
Perhaps things were misinterpreted by Jets fans and me, but I think this was more a situation of Hall not wanting to criticize the organization more than anything else.
“I love the coaching staff,” Hall said. “I love what Aaron Glenn is doing. At the end of the day, I’m worried about showing up on Sunday and being a good dude to my teammates.”
Not moving on from Hall isn't the biggest deal, but it’ll be important that the Jets go out in the offseason and try to figure out a contract for him now.
Even if they could’ve gone a third or fourth round pick, that's a lot more valuable than just letting him walk for nothing in free agency. Only time will tell.
