Did the New York Jets really have all of the pieces of the puzzle to compete for at least a playoff spot this season? I still have my fair share of doubts, and I know many Jets fans do, but ultimately, this team is a lot better than it has been over the past few years.

The Jets can still improve on both sides of the ball, and the hope is that they keep doing so over the next few years, but the squad at least looks decent on paper right now.

Again, that doesn't necessarily mean the Jets are a great team or a bad team, but there's reason to believe they'll be better than they typically are, and that's a step in the right direction.

If you ask players on the roster, they believe that the Jets are in a really good spot, and that includes superstar wide receiver Garrett Wilson, who had a lot to say about the possibility of playing for a really good football team this year.

"I believe we have the pieces in place that will get us to playing meaningful football in December, something I've dreamed about doing for a long time," said Wilson, per ESPN.

“…It feels different this year," Wilson said. "It just does."

Other players in the Jets organization have been just as happy about the possibility of winning games. That includes Adonai Mitchell, who the Jets traded for at last year's deadline. There's a hope that Mitchell can end up being the WR2 in New York, and a lot of early signs suggest that he can be that guy.

"A new start, a new beginning, new quarterback, new system," Mitchell said. "I mean, I love it. I love the challenge. I love embracing what we have here."

A lot is new here, which can bring uncertainty, but let's see what the Jets have before we make assumptions. Vibes are high, and that's all we can ask for at the moment.

Wilson having the views he does is a step in the right direction and something I'm excited to see.
