After the New York Jets win in Week 8, we could see the team hold off on trades.
Frankly, I think the better idea for the Jets is not to factor this game into many of their decisions ahead of the trade deadline.
The reality is, the Jets don't have a good chance of winning games towards the back end of the season, and will likely struggle again next year.
Unless the Jets completely hit on a rookie quarterback or find the perfect one in a trade or free agency, they shouldn't expect much to change.
There seem to be a few obvious players who could get dealt, with Breece Hall being the main one. After Hall’s performance in Week 8, who knows how much his value went up?
However, according to NJ.com, there are currently only two untouchables, which could be a sign of what's to come. According to the outlet, only Sauce Gardner and Garrett Wilson are safe to stay.
"Yes. It’s clear cornerback Sauce Gardner and wide receiver Garrett Wilson aren’t going anywhere after the Jets committed more than $200 million guaranteed to their first two picks of the 2022 NFL Draft this offseason. But the better question is should anyone be untouchable?
"Probably not. The Jets have been such a disaster over the last 15 years that they should be open to hearing literally anything that could drastically change their fortunes including tearing it down to the studs if they get a ridiculous trade offer for one or both of their young stars. But don’t expect the Jets to entertain calls on that possibility,” Andy Vasquez wrote.
As Vasquez touched on, he doesn't believe that there should be any untouchables on the Jets roster. I have to disagree with that, especially with Wilson. I get the idea of potentially moving on from Gardner if they get a trade package they just can't refuse.
Even if the Jets were to get a monster offer for Wilson, it just doesn't seem to make much sense to me to move on from him.
He's the one guy on the offense who has to be here for the foreseeable future, as he’ll help whatever quarterback the Jets decide to bring in.
