The New York Jets should not think twice about selecting this falling prospect in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
With the 2026 NFL Draft just around the corner, the New York Jets and general manager Darren Mougey will now begin to prepare for the highly anticipated event at the end of the month.
After trading away multiple stars at the 2025 NFL Trade Deadline, including cornerback Sauce Gardner and defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, the Jets now possess nine draft picks in this upcoming draft, with four of the picks being located within the top-50. This will allow Mougey and the front office to completely revamp the defense ahead of the 2026 season by bringing in multiple fresh faces.
However, there are still plenty of concerns on the offensive side of the ball leading up to next year. Outside of acquiring veteran quarterback Geno Smith, the Jets were not actively searching for playmakers on offense during free agency. Luckily for the struggling organization, Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson could be a viable option at pick No. 16.
Why the Jets Must Consider Tyson

Mandatory Credit: Rob Gray-Imagn ImagesTyson has been one of the most polarizing prospects in this year’s draft class, as the young wideout put together an incredible college career. Over his four years with the Sun Devils and the Colorado Buffaloes, Tyson accumulated 2,282 receiving yards and 22 touchdowns on 158 catches. His smooth route-running ability, paired with his dominance at all three levels of the field, will make him a dynamic pass catcher at the NFL level.
Unfortunately for Tyson, the main concern surrounding his game is his health, as the 21-year-old has a history of horrific injuries throughout his time in college. During his four years of college, the talented playmaker had one season in which he played more than 10 games, which occurred in 2024.
A season-ending knee injury during his first year in Colorado forced him to miss a significant part of his sophomore season, while a hamstring injury limited him to nine games as a senior.
Despite his rough injury history, taking a flyer on Tyson in the middle of the first round could wind up becoming the best pick of the draft for the Jets. Star wideout Garrett Wilson desperately needs another wideout alongside him to take some of the pressure off in the passing game. Tyson is exactly what New York is searching for in a pass catcher, and the risk could easily pay off in the near future.
