New York Jets wide receiver Adonai Mitchell has earned a strong prediction ahead of the 2026 season.

The New York Jets are building a young roster and will be looking to be more competitive in the 2026 season.

The Jets struggled in 2025, finishing in last place in the AFC East with a 3-14 record. General manager Darren Mougey has done a great job building a young core with some talented players and a plethora of draft capital.

Wide receiver Adonai Mitchell is an intriguing young piece for New York's offense, as Fox Sports named him a potential breakout player. The Indianapolis Colts drafted Mitchell in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft before including him in the Sauce Gardner trade at the 2025 trade deadline.

In his rookie season in 2024, Mitchell hauled in 23 receptions for 312 yards. The 23-year-old didn't do much for the Colts in eight games in 2025, as he had nine receptions for 152 yards. However, after the trade to the Jets, Mitchell played well in eight games, finishing with 24 receptions for 301 yards and two touchdowns.

He could be a key piece for New York's offense alongside their other young weapons, Garrett Wilson, Omar Cooper Jr., Kenyon Sadiq, and Breece Hall.

Mitchell could establish himself as the second wide receiver behind Wilson if he gets off to a quick start. Wilson has established himself as one of the top receivers in the league, as he had three straight seasons over 1,000 yards before only playing seven games due to injury in the 2025 season.

The 26-year-old had 36 receptions for 395 yards and four touchdowns in 2025 before going down with a knee injury.

While New York has some talented weapons, the quarterback position is a major question mark. The Jets acquired veteran Geno Smith in a trade this offseason after he struggled in 2025 with the Las Vegas Raiders.

In that season, Smith completed 67.4 percent of his passes for 3,025 yards, 19 touchdowns, and 17 interceptions. The 35-year-old will look to have a bounce-back season, but New York could turn to rookie fourth-round pick Cade Klubnik if Smith struggles.

The Jets have quality young talent on the roster, but Mitchell could be a true breakout weapon in the 2026 season.
