Here's what New York Jets fans could expect from the organization's fourth-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik.

After a successful stint in the 2026 NFL Draft, the New York Jets and general manager Darren Mougey will now look for their newest additions to make an impact in the foreseeable future.

The Jets entered this year's draft with four picks in the top 50, which the struggling franchise used to revamp both sides of the ball. This included selecting EDGE rusher David Bailey with the No. 2 pick and cornerback D'Angelo Ponds with the No. 50 pick, as well as adding two offensive weapons on Day One: tight end Kenyon Sadiq and wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr.

However, despite the organization's move to acquire veteran quarterback Geno Smith this offseason, New York ultimately decided to add another quarterback to the room during the fourth round in Clemson's Cade Klubnik.

Now, with a young quarterback entering the mix for the Jets heading into next season, how will Klubnik fit into the team's plans in the future?

Klubnik, in his 3.5 years as the starting quarterback for the Tigers, was once considered one of the top-ranked players leading up to the 2026 NFL Draft. During his first two years as Clemson's starter, the young talent managed to 6,483 yards and 55 touchdowns, with 39 of the touchdowns occurring in 2024.

On top of his success through the air, Klubnik also tallied 645 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground, proving himself to be a lethal dual-threat quarterback.

Unfortunately for the blossoming star, he was unable to live up to the high expectations set upon him before the 2025 college football season. Klubnik finished his final season at Clemson with 2,943 passing yards and 16 touchdowns, while also racking up just 94 rushing yards and four touchdowns on the ground.

This led to his eventual fall to the early parts of the fourth round of the most recent draft, and luckily for the Jets, they were able to take advantage of his slip.

Looking at how Klubnik would fit into New York's quarterback landscape in 2026 and beyond, it's clear that the organization will likely roll with Smith to begin the upcoming season.

Klubnik does have the potential to one day take over the starting job, but taking a year to sit behind a veteran like Smith gives him time to develop. Still, even with multiple veteran quarterbacks on the roster, there is a chance that fans could see him in 2026, depending on the play from Smith and company.
