Good Luck Against The Lions After A Loss cover image

Under Dan Campbell, the Detroit Lions are virtually unbeatable after they suffer a loss.

Last year the Detroit Lions went 15-2, so there weren't a lot of opportunities for bounce-back games. But during the 2023 season, and several times this year, the Lions have had to go back to the drawing board a handful of times. And every single time, specifically for the last 15 games, they have figured it out.

Under Dan Campbell, the Lions have shown phenomenal resolve. Whenever the Lions lose a game, you can bet the house on them winning the next time out. After beating the Dallas Cowboys 44-30 on Thursday night, the Lions have now won their next game after losing 15 times in a row. That is a very big number and something that truly describes how the Lions get after it.

After the game, Campbell talked about the overall team win while praising just about every player on the roster.

"That's a damn good win," Campbell said. "That team is hot. It was a hot team coming in here — that's a potent offense. And, you know, was it perfect? No, we've still got some stuff that wasn't good. You know, we had some of these penalties. We had some young guys that we've got to clean some of this up, you know, false starts and stuff like that. But we overcame a lot, and that's what this team does. So I'm proud of them."

Campbell was then asked about the 15-0 record after a loss over the past three seasons and, in true DC fashion, he used words like battle, fundamentals and technique when explaining why they've been able to right wrongs so well recently.

"We need to string some wins together," he said. "We battled back and we need to get another one. These guys do a great job of they take it for what it is. Man, they don't get panicked. They don't get panicked. They don't make something out of it that it's not. They don't make more of it than it needs to be. There's a reason why you're not able to win the game. And here's what it is. And oh, by the way, is it correctable? Yes, it's correctable."

With that mindset, and the fact the the Lions control their own destiny when it comes to its playoff chances, don't count out Campbell and Co. when it comes to the postseason.

"I think by doing that and keeping it that way, our guys are able to always answer back," Campbell explained after the big win over Dallas. "I think where you get in trouble is if you start panicking and you start doing more than you need to do. Just do your job and do it the best you can. Do it and make it clean, make it efficient. Worry about your fundamentals, your technique, and the guy next to you, he'll do his best, because we have the right guys here."

The Lions are now 8-5 with games remaining against the Los Angeles Rams, Pittsburgh Steelers, Minnesota Vikings and the NFC North-leading Chicago Bears over the next four weeks.
