Three road divisional games in the final four weeks, a brutal post-Germany stretch and playoff seeding on the line — the Lions’ toughest challenge in 2026 may not be their opponents, but surviving the schedule itself.
After returning from Germany, the Lions will close out the regular season with three of their final four games on the road — all against NFC North opponents. Detroit’s toughest scheduling challenge may not be the opponents themselves, but the timing of those matchups. Road games against the Vikings, Bears and Packers to finish the year, along with a Monday night showdown against the Giants, will test the Lions as they attempt to reclaim the NFC North crown.
At this point in the projection, Detroit sits at 11-2 and firmly in control of the division race.
Week 14: Lions vs. Titans
Detroit catches a favorable matchup late in the season with a home game against Tennessee. The Titans selected Carnell Tate with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft and are entering the second year of the Cam Ward era. Tennessee finished 3-14 last season and moved on from former coach Brian Callahan, hiring former New York Jets coach Robert Saleh as head coach. The Titans also added former Giants coach Brian Daboll as offensive coordinator.
While Tennessee could show improvement offensively, the roster gap between these teams remains significant. Detroit’s offense should have little trouble moving the ball, and this matchup has the potential to resemble the Lions’ 52-14 blowout victory during the 2024 season.
Score prediction: Lions 49, Titans 10
Week 15: Lions at Vikings
Detroit travels to Minnesota for its second Sunday night game of the season. The Vikings swept the Lions last year, but this season feels different. Dan Campbell is 6-4 against Minnesota and previously swept the Vikings in both 2023 and 2024.
Minnesota revamped its quarterback room by adding former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray. However, Detroit’s new offensive coordinator spent three seasons working with Murray and should have valuable insight into his strengths and tendencies.
This game figures to be highly competitive, but Detroit finally gets revenge and completes the season sweep over Minnesota.
Score prediction: Lions 26, Vikings 21
Week 16: Lions vs. Giants
The Lions return home for a Monday Night Football matchup against New York. Although Detroit defeated the Giants last season, this year’s meeting could be much tougher.
New York was without several key offensive contributors in the previous matchup, including Jaxson Dart, Malik Nabers and Cam Skattebo, yet still managed to keep the game close. The Giants also added two top-10 draft picks and continue to field one of the league’s stronger defenses.
With John Harbaugh now leading the franchise, New York appears positioned to take a major step forward. Detroit has also struggled at times in primetime settings, and this feels like a spot where the Lions could stumble.
Score prediction: Giants 31, Lions 28
Week 17: Lions at Bears
After previously predicting a Thanksgiving win over Chicago, this matchup still favors Detroit. Ben Johnson’s return to the division has created plenty of intrigue, but the Lions appear to remain the more complete team.
Chicago’s biggest offensive weapon could be emerging tight end Colston Loveland, while quarterback Caleb Williams continues to show flashes alongside bouts of inconsistency. Detroit will need to pressure Williams into mistakes and limit explosive plays in difficult outdoor conditions.
Just like last season’s win in Chicago, this game could come down to the final possession. Once again, Jake Bates delivers the difference with a late game-winning field goal.
Score prediction: Lions 17, Bears 14
Week 18: Lions at Packers
Closing the regular season with back-to-back road games against division rivals is far from ideal. Many expect this matchup to determine the NFC North champion, but in this projection, Detroit will have already secured the division entering Week 18.
The Packers come into the game at 11-5, while the Lions sit at 13-3 with a chance to compete for the NFC’s top seed. Even with the division wrapped up, playoff positioning could still be on the line.
Green Bay ultimately avoids the season sweep and hands Detroit its fourth loss of the year in a tightly contested rivalry matchup.
Score prediction: Packers 28, Lions 27
Overall Outlook
The Lions finish the regular season 13-4, win the NFC North and secure the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoffs. Despite a difficult closing stretch loaded with divisional road games, Detroit once again looks like one of the conference’s elite teams heading into the postseason.
