The Detroit Lions’ nightmare season took another hit Monday with news that center Frank Ragnow will not return this year after failing his physical. Ragnow initially reported what he called a “small hamstring injury,” but further evaluation revealed a grade-three tear. It’s the same injury that sidelined cornerback D.J. Reed for nearly two months.

Ragnow had been pushing to return, and while his effort drew praise, the setback ends any hope of a late-season comeback.

Head coach Dan Campbell said he knows guard Graham Glasgow is “feeling better,” but offered no update beyond that. Glasgow missed Sunday’s loss to the Green Bay Packers with an injury.

Campbell also addressed whether rookie Kingsley Eguakun could get a look at center.

“We haven’t discussed that at length,” Campbell said. “We like Kingsley, and obviously we brought him to the game the other day, but we’re looking at everything.”

Campbell added that the team had not discussed Ragnow’s status for next season. Staff knew there was a hamstring issue when he arrived for evaluation, and once the severity became clear, any potential return was ruled out.

With Ragnow out and Glasgow still uncertain, the Lions now turn their attention to the Dallas Cowboys — but their offensive-line concerns are far from resolved.
