The Minnesota Vikings announced a front office shakeup after spending the last week evaluating draft prospects at the Senior Bowl.

Oftentimes, a move can be unsurprising, but the timing of it makes it a bit of a stunner. The Minnesota Vikings certainly satisfied the latter category with some headline news on Friday. The Vikings announced that they fired general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, and per their statement, will have executive vice president of football operations Rob Brzezinski assume the front office duties through the 2026 NFL draft. It was a move that had spoken about in league circles, but the decision came after Adofo-Mensah spent the past week at the Reese’s Senior Bowl evaluating draft prospects for Minnesota.

The move apparently escalated rather quickly, as ESPN’s Kevin Seifert reports that there weren’t internal plans for a change. Things changed fast in a decision that comes as a bit of a shock. But the team ultimately felt it was best to move on with new leadership and will search for a new general manager following the draft. The 2025 season ended short of expectations with the Vikings failing to make the playoffs. That often sparks change. However, Adofo-Mensah had just signed a multiyear extension a mere seven months ago.

Here is the full story from Vikings Roundtable writer Corey Reed on the shocking news and what Minnesota will look to do next.

Adofo-Mensah’s draft record had blemishes. The Vikings had only 172 starts from players drafted in his tenure from 2022 to 2025, which is the second fewest in the NFL. They are one of 11 teams to have not drafted a Pro Bowler in that time.
