Khosla, a 49ers limited partner, will give up his stake in San Francisco as his family becomes the Seahawks' new controlling owner.

One ownership group is jumping from one NFC West rival to the next, as a record-breaking deal was made by San Francisco 49ers limited partner Vinod Khosla to purchase the Seattle Seahawks.

The Khosla-led group has agreed to buy the Seahawks for a record $9.612 billion for a franchise.

In doing so, obviously, the Khosla family will have to concede their ownership stake in the 49ers to become Seattle’s controlling owner.

The deal is still subject to NFL owner approval with a special meeting set for late August as a target.

The team went up for sale following their victory over the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl.

The Khosla’s will look to carry on the legacy set by Paul Allen, whose estate has owned the franchise since his death in 2018.

Upon his death, Allen’s directive was to sell both the Seahawks and the NBA’s Portland Trail Blazers, with proceeds going to charity in an honorable move.

Allen had originally bought the team back in 1996-97 from Ken Behring with the objective of keeping the Seahawks in Seattle and away from Southern California.

To read more about the new ownership takeover, here is the full story from Seahawks Roundtable writer Adam Schultz.

It’s an exciting time to buy into the team, as Seattle has been a contender as of late, making seven of the last 10 playoffs and the most recent Super Bowl title.

They host their home at Lumen Field, known to be a tough, hostile road environment, one that was upgraded as one of the host stadiums for the 2026 World Cup.

Moreover, they have a top duo in GM John Schneider and coach Mike Macdonald, something enticing to the Khosla family.
