This NFL trade idea sends Kayvon Thibodeaux from the New York Giants to the San Francisco 49ers.
A three-team NFL trade idea sending Kayvon Thibodeaux from the New York Giants to the San Francisco 49ers has been created by Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report.
Here is the mock trade:
49ers Get: Edge Kayvon Thibodeaux
Giants Get: CB Marlon Humphrey, Ravens' 2027 4th-round pick
Baltimore Ravens Get: 49ers' 2027 2nd-round Pick, WR Isaiah Hodgins
With Brian Burns, Abdul Carter and Arvell Reese on the Giants' roster, there has been talk for some time that Thibodeaux could be traded.
"In this hypothetical scenario, the 49ers pry Thibodeaux away from New York by involving the Baltimore Ravens, the previous employer of Giants head coach John Harbaugh," Knox wrote.
The 49ers are a Super Bowl contender with a pair of edge-rushers returning from ACL tears in Nick Bosa and Mykel Williams. They could use a guy like Thibodeaux on the roster.
Thibodeaux played in 10 games for the Giants last season. He had 2.5 sacks, 13 solo tackles, five tackles for loss and nine QB hits.
The Giants selected Thibodeaux with the fifth overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Thibodeaux enters next season with 23.5 career sacks, 86 solo tackles, 31 tackles for loss and 55 QB hits.
Thibodeaux had a great start to his NFL career, racking up 15.5 sacks in his first two seasons. For whatever reason, the Oregon product hasn't been dominant the past two seasons.
While fielding a question from Dan Duggan of The Athletic, Giants head coach John Harbaugh didn't dismiss talk of a Thibodeaux trade, provided the price is right.
"I think he's a great player," Harbaugh said. "I'm excited about him. I was fired up to see him today. He looks great, he's in great shape. I'm thinking about him on the field, getting him plugged into our defense and getting him rolling. You want to talk about is he a trade possibility? Everybody's tradeable, everybody."
It will be fascinating to see if the Giants trade Thibodeaux before the 2026 season. There were reports during the draft that the New Orleans Saints were interested in Thibodeaux, but trade talks fell apart when the Giants refused to move the fifth-year veteran for less than a second-round pick.
