Star defender Dexter Lawrence has requested a trade from the New York Giants, per ESPN.
Lawrence is not happy about his contract with the Giants.
Lawrence and the Giants have been through two offseasons attempting to negotiate a new contract, but there has been no progress.
Lawrence has two years left on his current contract. The three-time Pro Bowler had an underwhelming 2025 season, putting up just 0.5 sacks, 14 solo tackles, four tackles for loss and eight QB hits.
New York went 4-13 last season. Former Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh is the new coach of the Giants.
"How important is he? Really important," Harbaugh said about Lawrence in February. "He's super, super important. He's a cornerstone football player -- not really a cornerstone, more like the middle stone. He's right in the middle. He's a very big stone, and he's a very active, athletic one."
In 109 games with the Giants, Lawrence has 30.5 sacks, 185 solo tackles, 40 tackles for loss and 103 QB hits. It will be fascinating to see if the Clemson product gets traded or if he gets a new contract.
