Former New York Giants star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has signed with a new team.
The New York Giants brought back veteran wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. over the offseason for him to make a difference on this squad.
However, Beckham didn't do too much throughout the first few weeks of the season, leading to the Giants to release him. The veteran wide receiver has been looking for work since then, and now he has found his new home in the NFL.
Beckham has now signed with the Minnesota Vikings to their practice squad, adding veteran depth to a team that desperately needs it. This move gives Minnesota a new weapon to use, while creating a reunion for Beckham with Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell from their time with the Los Angeles Rams.
Beckham played three games this season with the Giants, failing to catch a single pass with New York. This led to questions about how he was as a player, and ultimately it became too much for the Giants to deal with.
The reunion with the Giants this offseason was one of the more fun storylines for New York, giving this team one of its best players in franchise history back. All training camp, there were discussions about whether Beckham would make the roster, and eventually he did.
But the stay back in New York wasn't long, and now Beckham will move forward with the Vikings. Minnesota has been dealing with an injury to star Justin Jefferson, and Beckham could offer this team some insurance at the wide receiver postion.
While Beckham isn't the same type of player that he once was, he may still have something left in the tank. The veteran missed all of last season, and he only played in nine games in 2024.
But the Vikings must believe that he can still give them something, and he will now work to get put on the official roster. If Beckham can even be a deep depth wideout for Minnesota, this signing could work out.
Overall, Beckham's stay with the Giants this year was a fun but bittersweet one. While getting back a fan favorite was nice, the veteran showed that he could no longer perform at a level that the team needed.
Beckham played five seasons for New York earlier in his career, becoming one of the better wide receivers in the league. The veteran made three Pro Bowls with the Giants, and he will now try to finish out the next chapter of his career in the NFL.
