The New York Giants defeated the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, and the game was sealed by their $45 million man.
It certainly wasn't pretty, but the New York Giants defeated the Tennessee Titans by a score of 12-7 on Sunday afternoon thanks to a game-ending interception by safety Jevon Holland in the end zone.
It's not like Holland make a spectacular play on the ball; Cam Ward literally threw it right to him. But you can't deny just how good Holland has been through three games this season.
The Giants signed Holland to a three-year, $45 million contract in March 2025, hoping they were landing a big-play defensive back. After all, Holland was terrific in Miami.
However, Holland's debut campaign in New York was sorely disappointing, and heading into 2026, some already had him labeled as a potential cut candidate if he didn't turn things around.
Needless to say, Holland has certainly been outstanding thus far in Year 2, as his interception on Sunday was his third, and he has already logged four passes defended — as well as 12 tackles — on the campaign as a whole.
For a Giants secondary that faced massive question marks heading into the season and is also banged up, Holland's contributions are massive.
It was really the lone bright spot on an otherwise boring and gloomy Week 3 afternoon that included another injury to star edge rusher Brian Burns (this time it was his knee) as well as cornerback Colton Hood, who was hurt after giving up a touchdown.
New York is now 2-1 on the season after picking up the win over the Titans, and given how easy the schedule looks in the coming weeks, the Giants actually have a legitimate chance to be 4-2 or maybe even 5-1 heading into a matchup with the Houston Texans on Oct. 25.
Of course, we shouldn't get too far ahead of ourselves.
New York's offense has looked anemic without Jaxson Dart under center. The Giants managed just six points against the Los Angeles Rams last week, and while Tennessee's defense is respectable, Big Blue's offense looked outright awful against Robert Saleh's squad.
The Giants managed just 238 yards of total offense and were saved largely by the leg of punter Jordan Stout, who had some booming kicks — including a 74-yarder.
Najee Harris did look good, carrying the ball nine times for 52 yards and likely asserting himself as the team's No. 2 running back behind Cam Skattebo (Tyrone Tracy logged just one carry, and Devin Singletary was a surprise scratch).
But it's hard to imagine how this offense will manage with Dart sidelined. Jameis Winston totaled just 118 passing yards, and while he didn't make any mistakes, he didn't exactly air it out, either.
Thankfully, Holland is now living up to his contract and could end up re-establishing himself as one of the NFL's best safeties.
The Arizona Cardinals will come to town next week.
