The New York Giants have reached a contract extension agreement with offensive guard Jon Runyan.
The New York Giants have agreed to a contract extension with offensive guard Jon Runyan, as they're signing him to a two-year, $22 million deal with $21.5 million guaranteed.
Runyan is now locked up as a member of the Giants' offensive line through the 2028 season.
New York now has four of their five starting offensive linemen under contract through the 2028 season, which will give them a consistent unit for young quarterback Jaxson Dart.
Runyan has spent his last two seasons with the Giants, following his first four years in the league with the Green Bay Packers. He has proven to be a quality starting guard and will be a key piece of the offensive line as New York looks to establish their young talent of Dart and running back Cam Skattebo.
Dart is coming off a solid rookie season, as he completed 63.7 percent of his passes for 2,272 yards, 15 touchdowns, and five interceptions while rushing for 487 yards and nine touchdowns.
USA TODAY Sports via Reuters ConnectIf Runyan and the offensive line give Dart time in the pocket to deliver downfield, the Giants offense could have a breakout year. Star wide receiver Malik Nabers will be returning after tearing his ACL in Week 4 of the 2025 season.
Nabers had a standout rookie season in 2024, catching 109 passes for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns.
New York will also be looking to have Runyan and the offensive line create holes in the run game for Skattebo. Skattebo had a good rookie season before getting injured, as he rushed for 410 yards and five touchdowns with 24 receptions for 207 yards and two touchdowns.
The Giants have young, ascending pieces on offense to build around, and the front office is making great decisions to solidify the blocking in front of them.
New York has had a busy offseason, hiring John Harbaugh as head coach, and he can instantly change the culture and on-field production. With Harbaugh at the helm and a solid roster, the Giants will be among the teams that could make a surprise playoff push.
