One of the biggest questions surrounding the New York Giants has been the status of left tackle Andrew Thomas.

On Wednesday, the Giants went through their only padded practice leading up to a Week 1 matchup against the Washington Commanders.

Head coach Brian Daboll spoke to the media beforehand and said "everyone will be out there." This includes Thomas, who Daboll mentioned is improving each day.

"I think all the guys in the offensive line room -- players, coaches -- have done a good job throughout OTAs, throughout preseason, training camp," Daboll said. "So, whoever's in there will be ready to play."

According to ESPN's Jordan Raanan, Thomas has a "realistic possibility" of playing on Sunday but the next two days of practice will be very telling. Reps on Wednesday were Thomas' first in 11-on-11 since suffering a foot injury last year.

Thomas missed 11 games last season following foot surgery to repair a Lisfranc injury sustained against the Cincinnati Bengals last season. He was placed on the PUP list this summer but has since returned to practice.

Last week, Thomas spoke on his status and did not seem as positive.

"I want to be back, but if I don't feel comfortable to be able to perform at the level I think I can, I don't think it makes sense for me to be out there," Thomas said via SNY.

The Giants are required to share an official injury report on Wednesday ahead of Week 1. Here, we will get a better sense of Thomas' participation in practice, which will be one major indication of his status for Sunday.

If Thomas is held out, James Hudson will likely be the next man up at left tackle. Rookie Marcus Mbow will also be in the mix as a swing tackle.

The Giants open the season Sunday against the Commanders at Northwest Stadium in Landover, MD. It is extremely important for the Giants to, not only have their best players available for the game, but have their best players healthy and ready to perform at the highest level.
