The New York Giants are facing a tough situation with Andrew Thomas.

We know that when healthy, New York Giants left tackle Andrew Thomas is one of the best offensive linemen in football. But a healthy Thomas is a paradox at this point.

Thomas played in a combined 29 games between 2023 and 2025 due to a variety of different ailments, and while he has appeared in all five contests thus far this season, he is battling a groin injury he sustained back in Week 2.

The former Second-Team All-Pro has been able to play, but just how much longer is he going to last?

Anyone who watched the Giants' tie against the Washington Commanders on Sunday could see Thomas laboring, especially on a rain-soaked field.

He was getting around gingerly, and he appeared to be a step slow.

Of course, Thomas at 60-70 percent is still better than most tackles in the NFL, but it's getting to a point where New York has to seriously worry about his health.

To make matters worse, right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor exited the game Sunday after feeling a pop in his calf. He was walking around afterward and said he felt better, but calf injuries are always tricky.

The Giants will almost certainly be without Eluemunor against the New Orleans Saints next week, and you have to figure he'll be sidelined through the Week 8 bye. Luckily, Marcus Mbow gained valuable experience last year and is a very capable replacement, but now, Eluemunor's absence makes Thomas' presence that much more vital.

If New York were considering sitting Thomas in Week 6, that plan just became compromised. The Giants do have first-year tackle J.C. Davis sitting behind Thomas, and Davis showed tremendous signs in training camp. But he is rookie, and a sixth-round one, at that.

It would be asking a whole lot to throw Davis into the fray that quickly, and while Mbow is able to hold his own, a tackle tandem of Davis and Mbow would be far less than ideal.

Thomas has been very limited in practice and is clearly not close to 100 percent, and it seems like his injury is only getting worse.

The Giants are facing a tough decision here. They surely want to see how Thomas looks in practice this week, but if he is limited yet again, does New York consider resting him next Sunday against a 1-4 Saints team and seeing what Davis has?

It's a tough predicament for the Giants.
