The New York Giants have a rather unenviable financial situation heading into the offseason, which is not ideal for a team that just went 4-13.
While the Giants aren't in completely dire straits, they are estimated to have in the neighborhood of $20 million in cap room, which isn't exactly a whole lot.
As a result, New York may have to part ways with a few players, and Over the Cap has identified running back Devin Singletary as a potential cut candidate.
The Giants would save about $5.25 million if they cut ties with Singletary, who initially signed a three-year, $16.5 million contract with New York in March 2024.
Singletary has been a considerable disappointment for Big Blue.
The 28-year-old rushed for 437 yards and four touchdowns while averaging 3.9 yards per carry in 2024 and then posted nearly identical numbers this season, finishing with 437 yards and five yards on 3.7 yards per attempt.
At least he was consistent.

There was a time when the former third-round pick was productive, as he posted over 800 rushing yards in three consecutive campaigns with the Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans between 2021 and 2023. He also owns a respectable lifetime average of 4.4 yards per tote.
Things clearly just have not worked out for Singletary in New York, and it would actually be very surprising if he were still on the roster next fall.
If the Giants want to add another halfback this offseason, they could always try and add one in the later rounds of the NFL Draft or look to sign an undrafted free agent.
Assuming Skattebo returns healthy in 2026, running back is really not a position of need for New York, which is another reason why Big Blue would be better off cutting Singletary to pocket that money and use it elsewhere.
The Giants have clear needs at defensive tackle, cornerback, wide receiver and offensive line. It will be interesting to see how they approach the offseason.
