Giants Fans Will Lose it When They Hear Cor'Dale Flott's Potential Contract cover image

New York Giants fans will be apoplectic when they hear what Cor'Dale Flott might get in free agency.

The New York Giants have several key players hitting free agency next month, most notably wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson, offensive tackle Jermaine Eluemunor and cornerback Cor'Dale Flott.

At this point, it's looking more and more like Robinson is a goner. He just posted a 1,000-yard campaign and has probably already priced himself out of the Giants' range, especially with New York having the ability to draft a receiver with the No. 5 overall pick of the NFL Draft.

Eluemunor seems like a good bet to return given his likely tame market, and considering how well he played in 2025, the Giants would be wise to re-sign him.

But then there is Flott, who may actually be the best talent of the three and is coming off of a pretty strong season.

The 24-year-old just signed with Athletes First, indicating that he will be in line for a big pay day in the coming weeks. But how big?

Well, Ryan Dunleavy of The New York Post made an appearance on the Giants Nation podcast this week, and his expectations for Flott's next contract will probably floor you.

"He's going to go wherever he gets the most money, and we've seen last year, players that are not as good as Cor'Dale Flott were getting like $16 million [per year] in free agency, and I can't see the Giants paying Flott $16 million," Dunleavy said.

For reference, Spotrac is projecting Flott to bag a four-year, $38 million contract, which is worth around $9.5 million annually. So to hear he might end up getting $16 million or more per year sounds wild.

But in a modern NFL where cornerbacks are even more valued than previous eras, a team in desperate need of help at the position may splurge on Flott.

The former third-round pick registered 38 tackles, an interception and 11 passes defended in 14 games this past season, posting a 68.1 coverage grade at Pro Football Focus. That ranked 33rd among 114 qualifying cornerbacks.

Flott is certainly not a No. 1, but he is a very solid No. 2 corner who will be an asset anywhere he goes. But is he worth $16 million? That's certainly debatable.

New York had issues at the cornerback position even with Flott in 2025, so losing him would definitely sting. But the Giants would be hoping for a better season from Paulson Adebo next fall, and they could also pick up another corner in what is expected to be a pretty deep draft class at the position this April.
