New York Giants coach John Harbaugh shut down a reporter's question before Week 1.
The New York Giants are preparing to face the Dallas Cowboys in their season opener this Sunday, and he is already letting the New York media know he won't tolerate any nonsense.
During a press conference on Wednesday, Harbaugh lost his cool with a reporter who asked him a Malik Nabers question about Week 1, letting the media know that he won't be giving away any intel.
"I'm just going to say this right now. We need to stop with all of these questions, because I'm not going to tell you who's playing in the game," Harbaugh said. "I'm not going to tell you who is starting, what package we have in, what plays we're running. I'm not going to tell you any of that."
Harbaugh's testy reaction is entirely understandable given the fact that he if tells the media, then the Cowboys will find out.
"So we can make it great and have a great press conference, or we can make it uncomfortable," Harbaugh added. "But I'm not going to tell you because what you know, the Cowboys know, or every other team we play knows. That's not in the competitive interest of our football team. Does that make sense? So I think you can respect that."
Harbaugh has certainly been around the block a few times.
The 63-year-old spent 18 seasons as head coach of the Baltimore Ravens, where he led them to a Super Bowl championship during the 2012-13 campaign. He also guided the Ravens to six AFC North division titles and 12 playoff appearances.
So, the long-time veteran is certainly accustomed to media protocol.
Of course, coaching in Baltimore is not quite the same as coaching in New York, so Harbaugh decided to lay down the law immediately.
Nabers has not seen meaningful action since last September due to a torn ACL and torn meniscus. He looked sharp in training camp, but did not participate in the preseason.
This has naturally led to rampant speculation about whether or not the Pro Bowl wide receiver will be on the field for the season opener, but Harbaugh isn't about to let anyone know of the Giants' plans.
