The New York Giants could be busy on the trade market this offseason.

The New York Giants definitely need to make a bunch of changes to their roster this offseason. While they clearly have some pieces in place, they absolutely need more, especially to make things easier for quarterback Jaxson Dart during his sophomore campaign.

The problem is that the Giants aren't slated to have a ton of cap room, so they may need to get creative in their approach. That could include trading down in the NFL Draft.

New York is just 2-9 and could very well land a top-three pick in the draft next April, and with the Giants already having their franchise quarterback (or at least they hope) and having so many other holes elsewhere, trading down is the most sensible path for them.

Joe DeLeone of A to Z Sports has Big Blue doing just that, as he is proposing that the Giants trade the No. 2 overall pick to the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for the No. 6 overall selection, a third-rounder and a 2027 first-round draft choice.

DeLeone then has New York selecting Tennessee Volunteers cornerback Jermod McCoy with the sixth overall pick and waiting until the second round to nab a wide receiver, where he is predicting that the Giants will take Texas A&M star KC Concepcion.

"The first selection at sixth overall for me is a slam dunk. McCoy hasn’t played this year due to recovering from an ACL injury last offseason. His injury timing likely allows him to play right away as a rookie. And for those worried about him not playing this year, his film from 2024 was elite, and he could have been a top 15 pick in the last class," DeLeone wrote. "This can solve the Giants’ need for better defensive back play and make up for Deonte Banks’ failure."

I'm honestly not a huge fan of taking McCoy that high in the draft given the fact that he has missed all of 2025 with such a serious injury. I actually think McCoy could slip pretty far in the NFL Draft, much like Will Johnson did last year.

In this case, the Giants might actually be better off trading down twice; trade with the Raiders, and then move the No. 6 pick elsewhere for an even bigger stash of draft capital. Then, New York could feel more comfortable netting McCoy or perhaps another cornerback in the middle of the first round.

Concepcion is an explosive weapon who leads the SEC with eight touchdown catches in 2025, having hauled in 47 receptions for 787 yards. That's good for an average of 16.7 yards per grab. My only concern is that Concepcion is a bit on the smaller size, and with Malik Nabers not being a big-bodied receiver himself, the Giants may be better off rolling with a taller receiver.

Either way, the idea of New York trading down should ultimately become a reality if the team does end up landing a top-five pick in the draft, and trading down twice should absolutely be under serious consideration.
