This New York Giants decision in free agency will tell us a lot about where they are going in the NFL Draft.

While wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson and cornerback Cor'Dale Flott are the two most discussed New York Giants free agents there is another important name who does not seem to be drawing considerable attention: tackle Jermaine Eluemunor.

Eluemunor has been the Giants' right tackle the last two seasons and has done a solid job, having registered a 76.7 pass-blocking grade in 2025.

But there has been speculation that New York could potentially select Utah tackle Spencer Fano — or Miami's Francis Mauigoa — with the No. 5 overall pick of the NFL Draft this April.

Protecting Jaxson Dart is obviously a priority for the Giants moving forward, and what they decide to do with Eluemunor in free agency will provide us with some major intel on their strategy heading into the draft.

If New York decides to re-sign Eluemunor, it will show that the Giants will certainly not be selecting a tackle in the first round. If they opt to let him walk, however, it indicates that Big Blue may be considering Fano or Mauigoa — unless New York is confident in 2025 fifth-round pick Marcus Mbow.

The Giants have several positions of need heading into the draft. Defensive tackle, cornerback and wide receiver are all prominent holes along with the offensive line, so New York can proceed in a variety of different directions in a couple of months.

But a re-signing of Eluemunor would certainly narrow down the Giants' options.

Now, just because New York doesn't select an offensive lineman in Round 1 does not mean the Giants won't still take one later on in the draft.

Even if Eluemunor re-signs, New York will still have to fix its interior line, where Jon Runyan Jr. has struggled mightily, and Greg Van Roten is hitting the open market.

Make no mistake: the G-Men absolutely should nab an offensive lineman at some point in the draft. It's absolutely critical to the development of Dart. It would actually be surprising if the Giants didn't take a guard somewhere.

But whether or not New York snatches a tackle on Day 1 is the real question.

Eluemunor is projected to land a two-year, $17.3 million contract (via Spotrac) in free agency. That is definitely affordable, but it's also important to note that the Giants have a rather tough financial situation at the moment.

It will be interesting to see what New York decides to do with the 31-year-old.
