The New York Giants have been connected to another former 1,000-yard weapon to help Jaxson Dart.
The New York Giants have done a whole lot of work on their wide receiver room this offseason, signing Darnell Mooney and Calvin Austin III in free agency and snatching Malachi Fields in the NFL Draft.
The Giants have also been weighing a potential reunion with Odell Beckham Jr., and Darryl Slater of NJ.com has linked New York to yet another former 1,000-yard option in that regard: Brandin Cooks.
Cooks spent time with both the New Orleans Saints and Buffalo Bills in 2025, totaling 24 catches for 279 yards in 15 games.
The 32-year-old does have six 1,000-yard campaigns under his belt, most recently doing so with the Houston Texans back in 2021. He has obviously declined in recent years, but he would still comprise a decent veteran presence for the Giants.
Cooks began his NFL career with the Saints back in 2014 and broke out with 1,138 yards and nine touchdowns during his sophomore campaign. He topped out at 1,204 yards with the Los Angeles Rams in 2018, and he caught 54 passes for 657 yards and eight scores as recently as 2023 with the Dallas Cowboys.

New York's receiving corps currently consists of Malik Nabers, Mooney, Austin, Fields and Isaiah Hodgins as the main five, but if the Giants signed Cooks, he could probably unseat Hodgins as the fifth wide out on the depth chart.
Would Cooks really move the needle for Jaxson Dart and Big Blue at this point? Probably not, but he would at least provide Dart with a dependable set of hands in short-yardage situations.
New York made sure to do its best to put talent around Dart this offseason, also signing tight end Isaiah Likely on the open market. It also invested into the offensive line by nabbing Francis Mauigoa with the 10th overall pick of the draft.
Clearly, cultivating Dart is a primary objective for the Giants, as it should be. But are either Beckham or Cooks particularly exciting options at this stage? Not particularly.
