The New York Giants' most recent signing should absolutely not change their NFL Draft strategy.

The New York Giants signed another free agent on Wednesday, adding former Baltimore Ravens offensive lineman Daniel Faalele to a one-year contract.

Considering that Faalele stands 6-foot-8 and weighs 380 pounds, you would think Giants fans should be excited over the move ... and then you remember that Ravens fans couldn't wait to get him out of town.

Faalele failed as a tackle, moved inside to guard and hasn't exactly produced much there, either. He managed a 56.8 overall grade at Pro Football Focus in 2025, and the year prior (his first season as a full-time starter), he was at 60.5.

The former fourth-round pick is still just 26 years old, so one might think there is hope for him to improve, but it's really, really hard for offensive linemen to get better after already subpar for four seasons. It's not like he's a second-year player.

Faalele will be battling with Evan Neal, Josh Ezeudu and Lucas Patrick for the starting right guard job ... for now.

Hopefully, it doesn't stay that way, and you have to figure that New York will select a guard at some point in the NFL Draft later this month ... right?

The Giants only own two picks over the first three rounds and have several glaring needs, so finding a space to take a guard might be tough. But this is where New York needs to cut the Sonny Styles/Caleb Downs/Jeremiyah Love nonsense and focus on positions in which it actually has serious holes. Guard is one of them.

Protecting Jaxson Dart is paramount, and thankfully, New York has a really good tackle tandem in Andrew Thomas and Jermaine Eluemunor. The interior, though, is another story entirely.

Jon Runyan Jr. has been a major disappointment at left guard, and while John Michael Schmitz has been nothing to write home about at center.

The Giants absolutely need to select a guard in the draft, whether that's doing something like trading down for Penn State's Olaivavega Ioane in the first round or taking Oregon's Emmanuel Pregnon in Round 2.

Another option could be moving down on Day 1 and selecting Alabama's Kadyn Proctor, a 6-foot-7, 352-pound tackle who could ultimately move inside.

Essentially, New York must take care of this issue in the draft. There is no way that Faalele should be viewed as an answer to Big Blue's right guard problem.

Hopefully, Harbaugh and Joe Schoen recognize that.
