This New York Giants draft pick might already be a candidate to be released before the 2026 NFL season.
The New York Giants selected seven players in the 2026 NFL Draft, and while Arvell Reese, Francis Mauigoa, Colton Hood and Malachi Fields all stand to see extensive playing time next season, the Giants' last three picks are far more questionable.
New York's final three selections all came in the sixth round, with the Giants nabbing Auburn defensive tackle Bobby Jamison-Travis, Illinois offensive tackle J.C. Davis and BYU linebacker Jack Kelly.
Kelly was definitely the most intriguing name of the group due to the fact that he racked up 10 sacks in 2025, but of those three picks, the one who most filled a need — at least at the time — was Jamison-Travis.
Jamison-Travis wasn't really on anyone's radar at the time. As a matter of fact, Lance Zierlein of NFL.com had him tabbed as a "priority free agent" rather than a Day 3 pick. But New York took him with the 186th overall selection due to the glaring hole it had on the interior of its defensive line after trading Dexter Lawrence.
The Giants had a need at defensive tackle before moving Lawrence. After trading him, forget about it. New York had little to nothing at the position.
But since drafting Jamison-Travis, the Giants have agreed to contracts with three veteran interior defenders in Shelby Harris, Leki Fotu and, most recently, DJ Reader.

Harris will certainly get playing time next fall as well after a really solid stint with the Cleveland Browns, and while Fotu could end up up on the chopping block, let's remember that the Giants have second-year DT Darius Alexander, who flashed some potential last season.
Where does that leave Jamison-Travis? I guess he could sneak his way on to the roster as a No. 4 defensive tackle, but he stands a very good chance of getting cut and then potentially landing on the practice squad.
Jamison-Travis has good size at 6-foot-4, 328 pounds, but he did not test all the way at the Scouting Combine, and it's not like he posted great numbers at Auburn.
Yes, the Minneapolis native has displayed the ability to stop the run, which is exactly what Big Blue needs, but that's why New York just signed Harris and Reader.
To be quite frank, undrafted signee Anquin Barnes out of Colorado may stand a better chance of cracking the 53-man roster than Jamison-Travis because he is a bit larger and because he was coached by Warren Sapp in college.
Perhaps Jamison-Travis will put together a spectacular showing in camp and force the Giants' hand into giving him a roster spot, but after New York's decision to add both Harris and Reader, I'm not so sure we'll even see him with the G-Men in 2026.
