The New York Giants are being projected to land a gigantic steal in the NFL Draft.
The New York Giants are entering the 2026 NFL Draft with some very obvious needs at cornerback, defensive tackle, guard and wide receiver.
The problem is that the Giants currently only own two draft picks over the first three rounds, so it will prove difficult for New York to fix all of those issues.
However, the Giants can still land a couple of major pieces at Nos. 5 and 37, and while rumor has it that New York is zeroing in on either linebacker Sonny Styles or safety Caleb Downs with the former selection, it could be in position to land a massive steal with its second-round draft choice.
Chad Reuter of NFL.com recently posted a four-round mock draft, and in Round 2, he has the Giants bagging Clemson defensive tackle Peter Woods.
Woods entered 2025 widely regarded as the top defensive tackle prospect in the country, but he had a disappointing season, finishing with 30 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and a couple of sacks.
As a result, Woods' stock dropped significantly. He was initially viewed as a potential top-five pick, but now some analysts — like Reuter — have him falling to Day 2.
If New York is somehow able to nab Woods at No. 37, it would represent one of the biggest steals of this year's draft.

The 21-year-old boasts freakish athleticism, and there is a reason why so many touted him so highly going into his final season at Clemson.
The Giants badly need another defensive tackle alongside of Dexter Lawrence, who struggled in 2025. Lawrence went to Clemson, as well, so there is a connection there.
New York met with Woods very early at the Scouting Combine last month, so clearly, Big Blue has interest in the 6-foot-3, 300-pound lineman.
Woods has the versatility to produce both as a run stopper and a pass rusher on the NFL level, and his presence alongside of Lawrence could the Giants one of the best interior pass rushes in football.
Not only that, but Woods would make the jobs of Brian Burns and Abdul Carter easier on the edge, which could open up New York's defense even further.
I still have my doubts that Woods will actually be available once the Giants are on the clock in Round 2, but if he is there, New York would be silly not to take him.
