The New York Giants have multiple injury concerns before facing the Los Angeles Rams.
The New York Giants defeated the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1, but not without some nicks and bruises along the way.
Case in point, the Giants will be heading into their Monday night matchup against the Los Angeles Rams with some injury concerns in their secondary.
Cornerback Paulson Adebo did not participate in practice on Thursday due to a knee injury, and fellow corner Deonte Banks was limited with a calf issue.
While neither player has been ruled out for Week 2 just yet, the fact that New York has two players nursing injuries at a position where the club is already thin is worrisome.
Banks and Greg Newsome II both won starting jobs over Adebo out of training camp, which was troublesome enough as it was considering that the Giants signed Adebo to a three-year, $54 million contract in March 2025.
Colton Hood is the fourth cornerback on the roster, but because he is just a second-round rookie, New York does not appear to be counting on him for that much this season. Hood played just six snaps against the Cowboys last Sunday.
The Giants' secondary was a major sticking point throughout the offseason. They lost top cornerback Cor'Dale Flott to free agency and didn't make any truly impressive additions. They signed Newsome — a former first-round disappointment — to replace Flott, and while Hood is very talented, he is also very raw.
Fortunately, New York's safeties looked pretty good in the season opener. Jevon Holland had an interception, and Tyler Nubin played one of his best games as a Giant.
But if the Giants are without one of their cornerbacks in Los Angeles, it could make for a messy evening.
The Rams have one of the most lethal aerial attacks in football, and while their passing game struggled in Australia against the San Francisco 49ers, you have to assume Matthew Stafford and Co. will be ready to play in an essential must-win game against Big Blue.
We'll see if New York reveals any positive updates on Adebo and Banks on Friday.
It should also be noted that running back Tyrone Tracy appears to be battling the flu.
