Matthew Schmidt and Dylan Feltovich of New York Giants Roundtable discuss the upcoming NFL Draft for the Giants after they landed the No. 5 overall pick.

The New York Giants defeated the Dallas Cowboys in the regular-season finale and watched their NFL Draft stock plummet with it, as they went from the No. 2 overall pick to No. 5.

So what will the Giants do now that they fell so far in the draft order?

Can the organization still maintain a somewhat positive trajectory in spite of falling so far in the order within a span of two weeks?

Matthew Schmidt and Dylan Feltovich break it down in the latest episode of the Giants Roundtable podcast.

The topics are as follows:

  • What can the Giants do at No. 5? Is trading down still an option even though the quarterbacks will likely be off the board by then? And if they can't trade down, what should they do with the pick? What position should they target?
  • New York has decided to retain Joe Schoen as general manager. This is definitely a controversial decision on the part of the Giants, and most would probably say that they should have just fired Schoen when they had the chance. Was this a huge mistake on the part of Big Blue? Is there anything to like about Schoen going forward?
  • Some potential head-coaching candidates have emerged for the Giants, and we are sure to see some interviews soon. Should Kevin Stefanski be an option for New York? Or should the G-Men go with a more defensive-minded head coach like Robert Saleh or Vance Joseph? There are plenty of possible options for the Giants, but they must make the right decision here.
  • New York will almost certainly be monitoring Clemson defensive tackle Peter Woods with the fifth overall pick of the NFL Draft. Would this be a wise pick for the Giants? New York was horrendous against the run this season, so you would think selecting an interior defender should be near the top of its priority list in the draft. Or should the Giants go with a wide receiver like Carnell Tate?
  • Who are some sleepers for New York to examine in this year's draft class? The Giants won't have the luxury of securing a ton of draft capital by trading down from the No. 1 or 2 pick, so they will have to be much more judicious with how they go about using their mid-to-late round selections. Are there any players we should have our eyes on between now and April?

All that and more in the latest episode of the Giants Roundtable podcast.
