Matthew Schmidt and Dylan Feltovich of New York Giants Roundtable discuss the team's biggest needs after free agency and NFL Draft buzz during the latest episode of the Giants Roundtable podcast.
The New York Giants have had a very active free agency period, and it looks like everything is beginning to wind down.
However, there is still time for the Giants to make more moves, and with the NFL Draft just around the corner, more rumors are sure to come.
Matthew Schmidt and Dylan Feltovich of Giants Roundtable broke down some of the biggest stories concerning New York right now and what Big Blue fans should expect going forward.
The topics are as follows:
- What were the Giants' best signings of free agency? They certainly made a lot of moves, but which additions really stand out? And what players represent the best fit under John Harbaugh heading into his debut campaign head coach?
- What needs does New York still have now that the bulk of free agency is over? Are there are any players available on the open market that the Giants should still sign? Big Blue has a bit of cap room remaining, so Harbaugh and Co. probably have room for another impactful move. Who could New York potentially target?
- How did the Giants' moves in free agency affect their NFL Draft plans? New York signed linebacker Tremaine Edmunds and also re-signed linebacker Micah McFadden, so does this take the G-Men out of the running for Sonny Styles? Is Carnell Tate still in play even after the Giants added two wide receivers? Is it possible that New York could be targeting running back Jeremiyah Love at No. 5? Or could the Giants ultimately trade down?
- The Giants still need a defensive tackle, a position they have not yet addressed in free agency. While names like Calais Campbell and D.J. Reader are possibilities, New York could ultimately turn to the draft for a solution, and once potential name to monitor is Texas Tech star Lee Hunter. Hunter has terrific size and is dominant against both the run and the pass, and he could very well be available when the Giants pick in the second round at No. 37.
All that and more in the newest episode of the Giants Roundtable podcast.
