The New York Giants were hammered by the New England Patriots on Monday night to fall to 2-11 on the season, and while the loss preserved their NFL Draft position, a couple of concerning topics emerged from the evening.
Matthew Schmidt and Dylan Feltovich discussed all of them in the latest episode of the Giants Roundtable podcast.
The topics are as follows:
- Abdul Carter was disciplined for the second time in three games for tardiness. This time, he was benched for the entire first quarter. Carter's behavioral issues have become a concerning trend for the Giants during his rookie campaign, and defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence made it clear that it would not be tolerated much longer. How worried should New York be about Carter's attitude?
- Jaxson Dart returned against the Patriots after missing two games with a concussion, and sure enough, he took another hard hit, this time along the sideline before he got out of bounds. Dart maintained after the game that he was not going to change his play style, as this has been the way he has played his entire football career. But there has to reach a point where Dart stops being so stubborn and learns how to protect himself.
- Mike Kafka is clearly auditioning for a head-coaching job somewhere, but will it be with the Giants? A recent report surfaced that New York has Kafka on its short list of potential head-coaching candidates for 2026. Could Kafka's experience with Dart give him an inside edge in the Giants' coaching search? Or will Big Blue go in an entirely different direction?
- The NFL Draft is still nearly five months away, but it's never too early to discuss it. So how should the Giants approach the draft? Should they try and get Dart another weapon right off the bat? Or should they focus more on their defense, which ranks toward the bottom of the league? Schmidt and Feltovich also named some specific potential candidates for New York to potentially select.
- The Giants finally have their bye next week, and with just four games remaining in the regular season, Schmidt and Feltovich provided some thoughts on where New York currently stands and how things look for the future in the Big Apple. Have the Giants made progress in spite of their lowly record this season?
All that and more in the latest episode of the Giants Roundtable podcast.
