Giants Trade Proposal Lands $98 Million All-Pro to Plug Major Hole cover image

The New York Giants have been connected to a big trade to fill a major need.

The New York Giants have some very clear needs heading into the offseason, and cornerback represents one of those glaring holes.

The Giants' secondary was mostly a disaster in 2025, with cornerback Cor'Dale Flott representing one of the only steady members of the group.

However, Flott is hitting free agency, and if the rumors of his potential contract demands prove right, he will likely be playing his football elsewhere next season.

New York definitely needs to address the position in the coming months, and while the NFL Draft class is pretty rife with talent at corner, the Giants will also benefit from adding an experienced player.

Enter Baltimore Ravens veteran Marlon Humphrey, who spent the first nine years of his career playing for John Harbaugh.

Harbaugh will almost certainly be looking to acquire some of his former players this offseason, and Bleacher Report's Alex Ballentine has linked New York to a trade for Humphrey. More specifically, Ballentine has the Giants sending fourth and sixth-round picks to the Ravens in exchange for the two-time First-Team All-Pro.

"Humphrey might be on the tail end of his peak. He's 29 and his 2025 campaign didn't live up to his All-Pro 2024 season," Ballentine wrote. "However, his versatility as someone who can play in the slot and outside along with his experience with Harbaugh could make him a strong addition to New York's secondary."

In 15 games this past season, Humphrey registered 68 tackles, a sack, four interceptions and 13 passes defended.

The numbers look good on paper, but Pro Football Focus tabbed him with a 42.9 coverage grade, which ranked 112th among 114 qualifying cornerbacks.

It was clear that Humphrey wasn't the same player in 2025, but he is just two seasons removed from one of the best showings of his NFL tenure.

That could make the former first-round pick a terrific bounce-back candidate for 2026, although I'm not too sure trading a pair of Day 3 selections for Humphrey would be the best avenue for the Giants to pursue.

Remember: New York is already without a third-round draft choice this April, so parting with two more picks for a player who could be in steep decline isn't advisable.

Humphrey also carries a $26.3 million cap hit for next season, the final year of a five-year, $98 million extension he signed with Baltimore back in 2020.

The Giants may be better off waiting for the Ravens to cut Humphrey, which could absolutely happen especially now that Harbaugh is in the Big Apple.

Then, New York could sign him without giving up any draft capital and without taking on the major financial hit.
