The New York Giants badly need this player to fall to them in the NFL Draft.
The New York Giants had a rather odd first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday night, selecting edge rusher Arvell Reese at No. 5 and tackle Francis Mauigoa at No. 10.
The Mauigoa pick was not too much of a surprise considering the Giants needed offensive line help, and while they are set at tackle with Andrew Thomas and Jermaine Eluemunor, Mauigoa could kick inside to guard.
The Reese selection, however, did not address a single need for New York.
The Giants still have glaring holes at cornerback, defensive tackle and wide receiver, and with just one pick on Day 2, they obviously aren't going to be able to fill all of those needs on Friday evening.
But there is one player New York should be champing at the bit to add with the 37th overall selection: Ohio State defensive tackle Kayden McDonald.
McDonald was expected by most to be a first-round selection, but he has slid to Day 2, and the Giants may have a chance to nab him with their second-round draft choice.
The 6-foot-3, 330-pound behemoth was viewed by some as the best interior defender in this year's class, and while I think that title belongs to Peter Woods (sorry, Caleb Banks), McDonald is right there, as well.

McDonald is adept against both the run and the pass and would fill the gaping hole left by Dexter Lawrence up the middle.
Honestly, there are numerous options I would be okay with at No. 37. Tennessee cornerback Jermod McCoy would be great. Clemson corner Avieon Terrell would be nice, as well. And if the Giants want to go wide receiver, you can't go wrong with Washington star Denzel Boston.
However, the absolute prime selection for New York with the 37th pick would be McDonald, who could be a game-changer for Big Blue in the trenches.
The Giants could then sign one of Calais Campbell or DJ Reader after the draft to solidify the defensive tackle position and allow McDonald to learn from a seasoned veteran in the process.
I'm not even sure McDonald will actually be on the board by the time New York is on the clock, but if he is, John Harbaugh should waste no time pulling the trigger.
