New York Giants quarterback Jameis Winston has been given a tough QB grade for his performance against the Arizona Cardinals.
The New York Giants now sit at 3-1 on the new NFL season following a win over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
New York took the game down to the wire, but in the end, the defense sealed the deal. Cornerback Deonte Banks grabbed an interception to end the game, taking it back for a touchdown.
This marked the second straight week that the Giants' defense won a game with an interception, showing signs of life from the unit. But the offense was fairly good in the contest, with quarterback Jameis Winston leading the team to a win.
In the victory, Winston threw for 250 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. The Giants got the full Winston experience in the victory, but it was good to see the ball being pushed down the field.
Despite the Giants getting the big win, Winston was still given a poor grade for his performance by NFL analyst Brent Sobleski of Bleacher Report. Winston's outing against the Cardinals earned him a "C+", which accurately sums up how the veteran signal-caller played in the game.
After starting quarterback Jaxson Dart went down with a season-ending injury a few weeks ago, Winston took over. But there have been questions about whether he could give the Giants what they need at the position.
Winston has had an up-and-down career in the NFL, but he does have the talent to win games for his team. This was on full display against the Cardinals, and the veteran signal-caller looked much more comfortable in the offense.
After the game, Winston said that he was heating up, while getting better over time. Winston was thrown into a tough situation, but he has now helped the Giants win both games that he has started for them.
New York has some favorable games coming up on the schedule, with matchups against the Washington Commanders, New Orleans Saints, and Houston Texans over the next three weeks. If the Giants can take care of business, the team could be 6-1 heading into the bye week.
New head coach John Harbaugh has this team playing well right now, and he has made a direct impact on this group. Harbaugh gives New York instant credibility each week, and at least so far, it has paid off well.
This team has been proving people wrong all year so far, but the job isn't done yet. The Giants have a lot of work to do, and if they can put it all together, the playoffs aren't out of the question.
