The New York Giants will start Jameis Winston again this week against the Detroit Lions.

The New York Giants announced that Jameis Winston will start at quarterback this week against the Detroit Lions since Jaxson Dart is still in concussion protocol.

Winston started last week against the Green Bay Packers. He went 19-29 for 201 yards and one interception. The Giants lost by a final score of 27-20.

"I told you I prepare every single week," Winston said. "You're saying the life of being a backup, this is the life of being an NFL quarterback. Staying ready so you don't have to get ready."

The Giants are huge underdogs against the Lions. Winston, though, is very confident heading into the contest.

"Well, I believe I'm ready regardless," Winston said. "Whatever this team needs me to do, I'm ready to do it. Regardless of he's like, Jameis, you're going to be number two, Jameis, you're going to be number three, I'm ready. I'm preparing for whatever."

The Giants are 2-9 on the season. If they lose to the Lions, New York will be the first team to get eliminated from playoff contention, something Winston is hoping to avoid.

"Our intention is not set to that," Winston said. "Our intention is defeating the Detroit Lions and playing our very best and that's what we're focused on."

The Giants are 23rd in the NFL in points per game and 29th in points per game allowed. To beat Detroit, Winston and Co. will likely have to score a lot of points since Detroit has one of the best offenses in the league.

"Yeah. It's going to be exciting. I look forward to this atmosphere," Winston said. "Detroit just reminds me of that culture. It's Motown there, excitement. I just remember playing there, it looks like a warehouse when you're walking in there. You're just walking in a warehouse and then you open it up and you see Ford everywhere, you see blue everywhere, it's a pretty exciting place to play."

Winston enters the Giants-Lions game with 154 passing touchdowns and 112 interceptions in his career. He's 36-52-0 as a starter in the NFL.

"I love this," Winston said. "I'm so grateful to wear this uniform, do my job. So, nothing really changes for me. Maybe more texts to the receivers, just in terms of a communication standpoint, but outside of that, no. In terms of studying, it's just the same."
