John Harbaugh has made a huge decision for the New York Giants.

John Harbaugh is attempting to change the culture for the New York Giants, and he has already made a couple of significant moves in his quest to do that.

First, he hired Dennard Wilson as defensive coordinator. Wilson worked under Harbaugh as Baltimore Ravens defensive backs coach in 2023 and had spent the last two years serving as the Tennessee Titans' defensive coordinator.

The move was met with some resistance from Giants fans, but everyone ultimately agreed to trust the process.

Now, Harbaugh has made an arguably even more important hire, landing Matt Nagy as New York's offensive coordinator.

Nagy had spent the previous four seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, first serving as quarterbacks coach in 2022 and then being promoted to offensive coordinator in 2023 (although Andy Reid called the plays). The Chiefs and Nagy decided to part ways following 2025.

It wasn't like Kansas City made the decision to cut the cord with Nagy, either. Nagy had previously informed the Chiefs that he was planning on searching for a head-coaching job this offseason, so Kansas City made other plans.

It's also important to note that Nagy actually served two separate stints with the Chiefs. His first run in KC came between 2013 and 2017. He held a post as quarterbacks coach the first three seasons but then moved into the offensive coordinator role for the last two years.

Nagy then landed the Chicago Bears head-coaching job in 2018 and held a position there for four seasons.

The fact that Harbaugh is deciding to roll with an experienced coach as his offensive play-caller does not come as much of a surprise, even if Giants fans are not entirely enamored with the hire.

Regardless, as I have said since he was hired, Harbaugh knows what he is doing. He coached the Ravens for 18 years, winning a Super Bowl and six AFC North division titles while making 12 playoff appearances.

We should probably just trust in what Harbaugh is building in New York, even if the Wilson and Nagy hires may look questionable on the surface.

Now, Harbaugh needs to go about building the roster, which will be difficult with such limited financial flexibility heading into free agency.
