The New York Giants haven't won a game with Mike Kafka at the helm, but the former Northwestern QB has been working hard.
How hard, you ask? Kafka has been sleeping at the Giants facility.
"I'm embarrassed to say, but sometimes there's just some extra work and I want to maximize as much time as you can to get the players right," Kafka told Giants.com. "It happens every now and then. I'm not proud of it, but it happens."
The Giants face the New England Patriots on Monday Night Football. The Patriots are 10-2. They have the best record in the NFL. Meanwhile, the Giants are only 2-10. They are one of the worst teams in the league.
New York hasn't had its bye week yet, which has been tough for Kafka and Co.
"That's why I'm sleeping here," Kafka said. "It's been crazy, yeah. But it's part of the game, man. It's part of it. Everybody's got to deal with it at some point. I'm glad it's close, but we've got this week that we've got to go, so we've got to hammer it. Whatever we've got to do to get this one right.
"You know they're going to be well-coached. They're going to be disciplined. They don't make a lot of mistakes. So, if they do, you have to capitalize. You're going to be ready for a tough, physical game for four quarters."
All signs point toward Kafka getting to coach Jaxson Dart for the first time since taking over for Brian Daboll, as Dart has been cleared from concussion protocol. Dart has thrown for 1,417 yards, 10 touchdowns and three interceptions and rushed for 317 yards and seven touchdowns this season.
Against the Chicago Bears in Week 10, Dart was checked for a concussion for the fourth time this season, including the preseason. He didn't play in Week 11 against the Green Bay Packers or Week 12 against the Detroit Lions.
The Giants will miss the playoffs again this season, but at least they won't need to draft a quarterback in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
