The New York Giants will surely be diligent about finding some help for quarterback Jaxson Dart this offseason, and they will explore all avenues to do so.
While the NFL Draft represents the most obvious path to landing another weapon, the Giants could also look to free agency.
New York doesn't have a ton of cap room at the moment, but the Giants could open up a decent chunk of money with some roster cuts, and with both wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson and Cor'Dale Flott looking like they could be departing, Big Blue should be able to bring in some new talent.
One potential name that could surface as a candidate for New York is Minnesota Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson.
Hockenson has been tabbed as a cut candidate for the Vikings, as they could save $9 million by releasing the two-time Pro Bowler.
The Giants have Theo Johnson at tight end, but it's worth debating whether or not he is actually a No. 1 given his shaky hands.

Hockenson tore his ACL late in 2023 and has not looked quite the same since, but his pedestrian production in 2025 (he caught 51 passes for 438 yards and three touchdowns) could also be chalked up to poor quarterback play.
Still just 28 years old, the 6-foot-5 Hockenson could have a lot left in the tank if he lands in the right system. He posted back-to-back 900-yard campaigns in 2022 and 2023 and was unquestionably one of the league's best tight ends before the knee injury.
New York might be able to sign the University of Iowa product on a one-year, incentive-laden contract to bolster its aerial attack and provide Dart with a more sure-handed weapon (Hockenson caught 77.3 percent of his targets in 2025) on those short and intermediate routes.
The Giants could also run some two tight-end sets with Hockenson and Johnson, much like they did with Johnson and Daniel Bellinger this past season. It would just be a major talent upgrade this time around.
Hockenson would surely have a host of suitors if the Vikings do end up cutting him, so he would have to choose the Big Apple. But with New York on the rise with Dart and John Harbaugh, the Giants could comprise a compelling destination.
