The New York Giants have received some bad news before facing the Washington Commanders.

The New York Giants find themselves in sole possession of first place in the NFC East following their Week 4 win over the Arizona Cardinals, and next Sunday, they will face their second divisional opponent of the season.

The Giants will head on the road to battle the Washington Commanders in Week 5, hoping to improve to 2-0 against NFC East squads. New York defeated the Dallas Cowboys at home back in the season opener.

The problem? The Commanders look like they'll have Jayden Daniels back for this game.

Daniels has been sidelined the last two weeks due to a dislocated elbow he suffered in Week 2 against the Cowboys, but it looks like he'll be back under center Sunday.

That's definitely a tough break for the Giants, who appeared to be catching Washington at the right time before the Daniels revelation.

It should be noted that Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin is nursing a hamstring injury that kept him out of action this past weekend, but it looks like he'll be well enough to return versus New York.

That absolutely makes this divisional clash more challenging on the road, and even though Washington is just 1-3, this could end up being the second-most difficult game the Giants have had thus far behind Week 2's loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

It's a big game for New York, too, as things are about to get tougher.

The Giants will host the New Orleans Saints the following week and will then go back on the road to battle the Houston Texans in Week 7.

The Saints beat New York in the bayou last year, and while the Texans are 0-4, you're kidding yourself if you think they're as bad as their record indicates.

Big Blue will then have its bye in Week 8 before going into the tougher part of their schedule, which begins at Philadelphia on Nov. 8 and features a murderers row of opponents toward the end of the season.

Heck, even the game against the Cleveland Browns on Dec. 20 no longer looks like a gimme anymore. Especially with all of the injuries the Giants have.

Not that anyone should be counting on New York to make the playoffs, but if it does plan on making a push for a postseason berth, it really needs to take care of business against its easier opponents over these next couple of weeks.

That includes the Commanders this Sunday, although I'm not too sure how "easy" this matchup will be in the nation's capital.
